I just wanted to share that I made my first sale of one of my photography prints last night. I've been taking pictures hardcore for about 4 years now, and it wasn't until the last couple of months that I got the confidence to try and sell my prints.
So I decided to revive an old Etsy store that I was using for illustrations and gave it a makeover to feature my photography instead. I spent hours, creating mockups, tweaking, rephrasing, and just overthinking in general to get it to a point that I thought was pretty good.
I didn't really do a lot to promote it, I just focused on my SEO on Etsy and Google and trying to make my listings more personalized and descriptive. For a few weeks I was getting some traffic, but no sales or favorites. It's funny because I was starting to feel discouraged, but I reminded myself that I was just doing it to expand my horizons and it didn't really matter if anyone purchased a print because I was already so proud of my photography.
It was almost like as soon as I let go of the negativity I opened the door to opportunity. Last night as I was lounging around at home when my phone vibrated. It was an email, so I didn't think it was anything I hadn't seen before. But when I opened it the subject read, "Congratulations on your first sale!" from Etsy.
I was stunned! There is no words to describe what a rush of awe and gratefulness came over me. I felt so humbled that someone likes my photo enough to want it hanging in their wall. It also gave me a boost of confidence and reassurance that I was on the right path.
Anyways, it may seem like a small bit of news but it has gone down as one of the proudest moments of my life, and one I will never forget.
If you're interested in ordering one of my prints you can get them here 😀. And thank you in advance!
